3.9. Product symbols

 

Product Symbols is a MageSuite feature that lets you define a list of special attributes combined with icons.

It can be found in the admin panel:
Catalog > Product Symbol Groups

Containers with symbols will be displayed on the product page. You can add a new group in the administration panel, but code changes are required to display groups with symbols on the frontend.

How to add symbol

  1. Open the page with symbols - Catalog > Product Symbols

  2. Click on the “Create New Symbol” button

  3. Specify the name, icon, short description and select the “Symbols” group

  4. Specify the conditions

  5. Save the symbol

How to add translations

 

  1. Open any existing symbol

  2. Change the scope (in the top left corner) for example to FR

  3. Uncheck the “Use Default Value” checkbox next to a specific field

  4. Set the translated value

  5. Save the symbol

How to manage conditions

Conditions in product symbols are very similar to conditions in sales and catalog rules.
You can add a new condition (green plus), remove one (red minus) or edit the rule.

If you want to use an attribute that is not on the list, you need to adjust that attribute configuration:

  1. Open Stores > Attributes > Product

  2. Find and open specific attribute

  3. Switch to the “Storefront Properties” section

  4. Set the “Use for Promo Rule Conditions” field to Yes and save the attribute

  5. Refresh / open the symbol edit page and you should be able to use this attribute
