4.1.2. Facet management
ElasticSuite offers high flexibility in displaying attributes on the storefront. Attributes can be e.g. set as filters (layered navigation) on product overview pages or search result pages. The configuration can be
made both on attribute and category level.
Facet management on attribute level
In order to configure the facet management on attribute level access STORES / ATTRIBUTES / PRODUCTS and click an attribute you want to edit. Now select the STOREFRONT PROPERTIES tab on the left and scroll down to the SEARCH CONFIGURATION section. Some configuration here has been already explained in sec. 4.1.1. Further you can do the following:
USE IN LAYERED NAVIGATION: Here you can enable the attribute to be displayed as a filter on the product overview page either with result count in brackets (select “FILTERABLE (WITH RESULTS)”) or without result count (select “FILTERABLE (NO RESULTS)”).
USE IN SEARCH RESULTS LAYERED NAVIGATION: Here you can enable the attribute to be displayed as a filter on the search results page.
FACET COVERAGE RATE: Here you can enter the minimum coverage rate in percent of results by this attribute. E.g. if you enter “90”, the attribute will appear as a filter only in case at least 90% of the products contained in the category (or search engine result page) will have a value for this attribute. If this is not the case, the attribute will not appear as a filter.
FACET MAX. SIZE: Here you can enter the maximum amount of values to be displayed as filter optionsIn case more values (filter options) are available, they will be displayed using the “show more” button on the storefront.
FACET SORT ORDER: Here you can select the sort order of filter options by:
o “RESULT COUNT”: The filter option (attribute value) with the most hits is displayed at the
top.
o “ADMIN SORT”: The filter options are ordered according to their values contained in
STORES / ATTRIBUTES / PRODUCTS.
o “NAME”: The filter options are displayed in alphabetical order.
o “RELEVANCE”: The filter options are ordered according to their relevance.
Also ElasticSuite allows using a slider functionality as input type for numerical filters, such as price. In order to use the slider functionality the attribute has to fulfill two requirements (both can be checked under STORES / ATTRIBUTES / PRODUCTS and then PROPERTIES):
The attribute’s values are exclusively numbers
The INPUT TYPE is either “price” or “Text field” with “Decimal Number” as INPUT VALIDATION FOR STORE OWNER
If this is the case the SLIDER DISPLAY CONFIGURATION will appear in the STOREFRONT PROPOPERTIES (under STORES / ATTRIBUTES / PRODUCTS and the given attribute).51 Here you can do the following:
DISPLAY PATTERN: Here you can enter the display pattern on the storefront where you
need to use “%s” as the placeholder for the actual value. E.g. the input “%s °C” will provide “15 °C”.DISPLAY PRECISION: Here you can enter the number of digits to display for precision, e.g.
“0” will display only integer values.
After making the changes click “SAVE ATTRIBUTE” in the top section on the right-hand side.

51 In case you just created a new attribute, you need to click “SAVE AND CONTINUE EDIT” in the top section on the right-hand side. After the configuration should appear.
Facet management on category level
You can also override the facet management settings made on attribute level when making changes on category level. Access CATALOG / INVENTORY / CATEGORIES and select a category from the category tree on the left-hand side. Expand the DISPLAY SETTINGS section and scroll down to LAYER NAVIGATION FILTERS. Here you can do the following:
PINNED: You can make a manual order of filter display by checking the checkbox. Now you can use the drag & drop button on the very left side to change the order by simple drag & drop.
DISPLAY MODE: Per default “AUTO” is selected and so the display configuration is used from the faceto management configuration made on attribute level. You can also display
the attribute always by selecting “ALWAYS DISPLAYED”. You can disable the display by selecting “ALWAYS HIDDEN”.FACET COVERAGE RATE: Here you can enter the minimum coverage rate in percent of results by this attribute. E.g. if you enter “90”, the attribute will appear as a filter only in case at least 90% of the products contained in the category (or search engine result page) will have a value for this attribute. If this is not the case, the attribute will not appear as a filter.
FACET MAX.SIZE: Here you can enter the maximum amount of values to be displayed as filter options. In case more values (filter options) are available, they will be displayed using the “show more” button on the storefront.
When the changes are made click “SAVE” in the top section on the right-hand side.
